DOES CRIME STOPPERS WORK?

The answer is quite simply YES.  Since the start of Crime Stoppers over 30 years ago, many calls have been received in various Crime Stoppers communities around the world resulting in thousands of arrests and the recovery of substantial amounts of property and the seizure of illicit drugs.  Calls have included information about murder, robbery, physical and sexual assault, drugs, vehicle theft, and firearm offences. 

The success of Crime Stoppers programmes worldwide cannot be judged purely on statistics, however, as other benefits have come to our notice:

• A greater awareness in the community that there is a crime problem.
• A willingness by the community to fight back against crime if  given the opportunity and motivation. 
• Improved relationships between Law Enforcement, Media and the Community.

Crime Stoppers is definitely here to stay. It has been accepted by police, customs and other law enforcement organisations as a valid and effective investigative tool, and the public, through its overwhelming response, appears to have accepted it as a more palatable alternative to traditional methods of giving information.  

Crime Stoppers is now truly global with programmes established in communities around the world.  Crime Stoppers Bermuda is one of 10 programmes in the Caribbean/Bermuda and Latin American Region; other Regions include Canada, USA, Europe, Africa, and Australasia.
